Whats Involved?

2 Day Coniston Challenge Event

This event is a mixture of outdoor activities in the Coniston Region of the the Lake District, you will encounter some of the best places the area has to offer.

Day 1:

• 200/300m Grade 1 Scramble in the heart of Coniston
• 80-100ft Abseil on the smooth slate at the famous Hodge Close Quarry
• Navigate through a Caving System
• Ghyll Scramble

Day 2:

• Summit the famous Old Man Coniston w/ descent down Wetherlam. Views abound for miles – you can see both Windemere and Coniston Lakes aswell as the surrounding peaks of the district. Up to the summit you also pass the legendary copper mines that were functional for hundreds of years.

Accomodation Options (not included by us) –

Hardcore people can camp by the lake @ Coniston Hall campsite (Coniston Hall Campsite, Coniston, Cumbria, LA21 8AS) Pay on arrival.

People who may want a bit more comfort can pre-book YHA Coniston Holly How at a reasonable rate. (Holly How, Far End, Coniston LA21 8DD)

Kit List:

On Person

• Base layer (T-Shirt)
• Light fleece
• Walking trousers/leggings
• Walking boots/trail trainers
• Thick socks

• Hat/gloves
• Waterproof jacket/trousers
• Food (Sandwiches, plenty of high energy nutrition, e.g. slow release energy)
• Water (2L minimum)
• Thick jumper/jacket
• Sunglasses/sun-cream (optimistic)
• Personal first aid kit (basics – blister plasters etc.)
• Personal medication e.g. asthma spray.
