National 3 Peaks Challenge

Whats Involved?

The National Three Peaks Challenge is an event in which participants attempt to climb the highest mountains of England, Scotland and Wales within 24 hours. Walkers climb each peak in turn, and are driven from the foot of one mountain to the next. The three peaks are:

  • Ben Nevis (1344m or 4409ft)
  • Scafell Pike (978m or 3209ft)
  • Snowdon (1085m or 3560ft)

The total distance walked is estimated at 42 kilometres (26 mi) or 44 km (27 mi), with a total ascent of 9,800 feet (3,000 m).

Your leader is Mountain Leader (ML) qualified with vast experience leading all over the world.

 

Friday 9pm: Meet in Prestwich (Location below – free parking available) – set off to Scotland, arrive at approx. 0300hrs (can get final bit of rest in on minibus before the event commences) Start event at 0400hrs Saturday morning. Finish back up in Manchester at approx. 0400hrs Sunday.

Kit List:

On Person

  • Base layer (T-Shirt)
  • Light fleece
  • Walking trousers/leggings
  • Walking boots/trail trainers
  • Thick socks
In daysack (Comfortable daysack (15-25 Litres)
  • Hat/gloves
  • Waterproof jacket/trousers
  • Food (Sandwiches, plenty of high energy nutrition, e.g. slow release energy)
  • Water (2L minimum) Lucozade
  • Thick jumper/jacket
  • Sunglasses/sun-cream (optimistic)
  • Personal first aid kit (basics – blister plasters etc.)
  • Personal medication e.g. asthma spray.

— Once booked, you will receive an email confirming your place and you will subsequently be put down on our registration system for the event, so that when you turn up on the day at the location specified below, we will have your name down on our list ready to be ticked off. You do not need to bring any confirmation of your booking as its all on our system!

Also, please bear in mind that if you are a returning customer, you may need to have the username and password ready that was sent to you when you first booked with us. This information should be in your email inbox.
